When many people start drawing, they pick a subject, turn it around a few times to pick an angle and then start drawing. One of the biggest challenges for the book is creating exciting and varied compositions for the many many pages I have to complete. My desk is currently strewn with layout paper and tracing paper, both of which I use for sketching our ideas, then hashing and rehashing, moving, tweaking, rethinking. As I sit here this morning I realise I have 4 new pages on the go. Bluebells and maidenhair spleenwort being the two which are closest to being ready, the others you’ll have to wait and see as they need more research and real life examination to make sure I’m bringing out the best of the specimen.
